The São Paulo Challenger was the stage for unforgettable moments, with Brazilian Paralympic stars winning medals and hearts. During four exciting days, local athletes excelled in their categories, showcasing talent and determination.

Brazilian achievements at the São Paulo Challenger.

Paralympic athlete Joyce de Oliveira proved unbeatable during the event. In the C1-5 category, she overcame the Frenchwoman Alexandra Saint-Pierre in a thrilling final, winning 3-2. Furthermore, Joyce secured gold in Women's Doubles alongside Catia Oliveira and in Mixed Doubles with Carlos Eduardo Freire de Moraes. This was the second time Joyce triumphed in both doubles events in the Challenger series, following her victories in Poland.

Carlos Eduardo Freire de Moraes also delivered a remarkable performance. In addition to winning gold in Mixed Doubles alongside Joyce de Oliveira, he achieved his second victory in São Paulo by winning the C4-5 solo category. Once again, Brazilian talent shone in international competitions.

Another highlight was Bruna Alexandre, who continued her winning streak in the W8-10 class. A few weeks after winning the first Challenger event of the season in Wladyslawowo, Poland, Bruna reaffirmed her dominance by defeating fellow countrywoman Jennyfer Parinos.

Outstanding International Performance

The competition was not just a showcase for Brazilian athletes. Ander Cepas, bronze medalist at Paris 2024, demonstrated his excellence in the C9 class by defeating local favorite Lucas dos Santos Carvalho with an impeccable game, winning 3-0.

Ignacio Torres of Chile and Jenson van Emburgh of the USA also shone. Torres took the top spot in the C6 category, while van Emburgh, a bronze medalist at Tokyo 2020, secured gold in the C3 class after beating Welder Camargo Knaf of Brazil.

Van Emburgh, partnering with Alan Zachary Pickett, also took home the victory in the Men's Doubles class 4-8, demonstrating the power of international collaborations in high-level events.


The Future of the ITTF Circuit For

The São Paulo Challenger was just the beginning of an exciting series of events planned for 2025. With future competitions scheduled for Lasko, Kaohsiung, Astana, Al Ain, and Giza, the ITTF Para circuit promises to deliver even more intense and unforgettable moments.

These events not only provide a platform for emerging talent, but also pave the way for more prestigious competitions, such as the ITTF World Para Elite and the ITTF Pan American Para Championships, which will also take place in São Paulo in October.
