Table tennis was one of the sports highlighted this Friday, the 23rd, during the training promoted by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee at the Paralympic Training Center in São Paulo. The sport is part of a training program aimed at qualifying Physical Education professionals who work or will work with adapted sports in schools within the São Paulo state network.

In the afternoon, from 1 pm to 4 pm, participants had access to a practical experience led by coaches from the Brazilian Table Tennis Confederation. The activity included a time for exchanging experiences with experts in the sport, as well as technical demonstrations performed by athletes, providing educators with direct contact with the adaptations, fundamentals, and pedagogical possibilities of table tennis in the school environment.

The proposal aims to enable teachers to understand, in a practical way, how sport can be used as a tool for inclusion, motor development, and socialization of students with disabilities.

Training for schools

In addition to practical experience, CBTM will present participants with courses offered by UniTM, the organization's educational platform. As an incentive to promote the sport, professionals involved in CPB training will receive a waiver of the registration fee for the "Table Tennis for Schools" course.

This initiative strengthens the relationship between the Confederation and the public education system, encouraging contact with the sport from the grassroots level and creating opportunities for students with disabilities to learn about the sport and, in the future, develop as athletes. At the same time, it contributes to training teachers as agents for disseminating table tennis in their communities.

"Table Tennis for Schools" Course

Aimed at teachers and coaches who work or intend to work in a school setting, the course has a total workload of 14 hours, with 12 hours of recorded online classes and 2 hours of live sessions. The training covers topics such as pedagogical processes applied to the sport, technical fundamentals, student-centered and game-based teaching, as well as content related to mental health in beginner sports.

CPB training

This action is part of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee's training program, held between January 19th and 23rd. A total of 178 professionals are participating in the initiative, including 150 teachers and 28 supervisors, with planned work in 75 state schools distributed across 62 municipalities in the state of São Paulo.

The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of adapted sports education in the school environment, promoting inclusion, continuing education, and access to specific methodologies for working with students with disabilities.
